Labor Day

About this time every year, since 1979, the muskidines and scuponones are ready. This used to be about the time school started back, but now, school has been "in" for almost a month. Picking these was kinda an unofficial signal that summer was just about over :( The green/golden ones are scuponones; the sweetest, great to eat right off the vine. The purple ones are the muskidines; tart and sour. They "pollinate" the scuponone.... but that maybe more information than you wanted to know.....

This afternoon, Peg and I got almost a gallon. We'll share some with Mom and for sure, she will make Daddy a scuponones hull pie. Bet you never heard of such...? But it's very good and "Absolutely West Alabama".
